New Painting and Many Thanks

A brand new painting of some Ents doing their thing.

Here's a link to some pictures of the "Hey You Guys!" event, thanks to Buz Carter for posting them. And thanks to everyone who made it out that night, it was great seeing old friends and meeting new ones. Watching "The Goonies" on the big screen so cool! With a raffle and art auction happening before the movie there was a lot going on but the whole night went smoothly. "Hey You Guys!" raised over $2000 for Donors Choose.

Special thanks to Sean Szeles and Kellie Smith for helping out with the auction. Each of the organizers was reponsible for getting a few artists to contribute artwork and the two of them created a couple of beautiful "The Neverending Story" pieces for us.

We are already talking about doing the event again with another movie!

Hey You Guys!

Announcement! On Saturday, November 15th some friends and I are putting on a charity screening of the classic movie "The Goonies" at the Rialto Theater in South Pasadena. The night will include a raffle and 80's kid movie themed art auction. It all benefits "Donors Choose" a charity that buys art supplies for classrooms around the country.

The auction starts on November 10th at ttgcharity.com and will finish on the night of the event so if you have to have one of the pieces be sure to make it out to the screening so you can outbid your competition. We're also going to have some special Goonie related prizes in the raffle along with other surprises. Stay tuned for updates, I hope you all can make it out, do it for the kids!

Beatles Do This!

Here's a piece of art I just finished for the Gallery 1988 show "Cover Band". Each artist was given an album sleeve to paint on using the cover image as a starting point. I had to break out the old cel vinyls for this one. The album cover didn't take the paint easily and dried super slow (hairdrying it made the paint clump) but I'm happy with how it came out and curious to see what everyone else did. There will be 50 albums altogether all rock and roll.

The show opens on October 7th.

Thor Painting Sketches

Here are some of the drawings I made before making the final Thor painting. As you can see, the original idea was to have the Thor hitting the bad guy out of the left side. At the last minute I flipped the drawing so that when you read it from left to right you see Thor swinging the hammer before you see the guy flying.
